Symbiotic Programming: Crossbreeding Cellular Automaton Rules on the CAM-6
نویسنده
چکیده
One way to evolve new artificial lifeforms is to fuse existing forms in var ious ways . If one wishes for a new lifeform 's program to be the same size as each of it s parent pr ogram s, then one might take half of each parent program and pat ch the two halves together . T his method is typical of sexual repr oduction, and of the genet ic programming approach . A different meth od of crossbreeding two of three lifeforms is to write a double or t riple length program which includes the full code of the original programs and which provides an arena in which the programs can interact . This might be called a symbiot ic programming approach . In this pap er I will descri be som e new and lively cellular au tomaton rul es whi ch I have found through symbiot ic programming on the CAM-6 cellul ar automaton m achine [1,4].

A Cellular Automaton Based Algorithm for Mobile Sensor Gathering
In this paper we proposed a Cellular Automaton based local algorithm to solve the autonomously sensor gathering problem in Mobile Wireless Sensor Networks (MWSN). In this problem initially the connected mobile sensors deployed in the network and goal is gather all sensors into one location. The sensors decide to move only based on their local information. Cellular Automaton (CA) as dynamical sy...

This work reports cm progress made in the first 3 years of ATR’s "CAM-Brain" Project, which aims to use "evolutionary engineering" techniques to build/grow/evolve a RAM-and-cellular-automata b sed artificial brain consisting of thous~mds of interconnected neural network modules inside special hardware such as MIT’s Cellular Automata Machine "CAM-8", or NTF’s Content Addressable Memory System "C...
متن کاملThe Genetic Programming of an Artificial Brain Which Grows/Evolves at Electronic Speeds in a Cellular Automata Machine
This paper reports on a project which aims to build (i.e. grow/evolve) an artificial brain by the year 2001. This artificial brain should init ial ly contain thousands of interconnected artif icial neural network modules, and be capable of controll ing approximately 1000 "behaviors" in a "robot kitten". The name given to this research project is "CAM-Brain", because the neural networks (based o...
متن کاملDiscovery of the Boolean Functions to the Best Density-Classification Rules Using Gene Expression Programming
Cellular automata are idealized versions of massively parallel, decentralized computing systems capable of emergent behaviors. These complex behaviors result from the simultaneous execution of simple rules at multiple local sites. A widely studied behavior consists of correctly determining the density of an initial configuration, and both human and computerwritten rules have been found that per...
متن کاملCAM-BRAIN: The Evolutionary Engineering of a Billion Neuron Artificial Brain by 2001 Which Grows/Evolves at Electronic Speeds Inside a Cellular Automata Machine (CAM)
This paper describes an ambitious 8 year research project which aims to implement a cellular automata based artificial brain with a billion neurons by 2001, which grows/evolves at (nano-)electronic speeds inside a Cellular Automata Machine ATR's so-called "CAM-Brain Project". The states of the cellular automata (CA) cells and the CA state transition rules can be stored cheaply in gigabytes of R...
